“All That I Have Is Yours” “Pay Forward” #2

Today’s “Pay Forward” gift is - “All That I Have Is Yours.” As a member of Alcoholics Anonymous it is so easy for me to identify with as the Prodigal Son, in the story of the son returning home to his father (Luke 15:11-32). He had been given his inheritance early and went off in a far country and wasted it on a way of life most active alcoholics can understand. By the time I was sober for a few years, there were times I acted like the self-righteous elder brother. He was jealous of the way his dad treated his prodigal brother. His home coming called for a great celebration, killing the fatted calf, which was only done for very special events. The Elder Brother had always stayed home working to please the father. He was never given the big party with a fatted calf to enjoy with his friends. He would not go to his prodigal brother’s celebration. His dad tried to reason with him. “Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.” I’ve experienced a great longing, a thirst and hunger after a better life. Our Father offers us all we need to carry out His Will, if we could only awaken to His message. “Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.” At any time I could have returned to our Father, asking more of A.A., more of myself and more or our Father sooner. Thy Love, Thy Will be done.
